Work Consultancy Inc. (“we”, “us” or “our”) are committed to protecting and respecting all of the users on our platform. Our approach actively engages experts and other stakeholders to build a safe, impactful and sustainable community.

This Safeguarding Policy (together with our Terms of Use and any other documents referred to in it) sets out the basis on how we will protect the children registered on our Thrive network (“Thrive Network”).

According to the U.N Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) (“Convention”) , a child is defined as a person under the age of 18. Work Consultancy recognises that all children registered on the Thrive network are afforded a number of protections and rights under this Convention and has enforced a system to uphold such rights and protections to the best of our ability.

Please read the following carefully to understand our views and practices regarding their safety.

SAFEGUARDING LEAD

A Safeguarding Lead has been appointed to perform the duties of a gatekeeper for the children registered on the Thrive Network. The individual’s role is to ensure that adequate preventative measures are in place to stop harm and proactive solutions are in place to appropriately address situations where harm occurs. This applies to both internal and external environments which is not limited to communications between Work Consultancy’s staff and users, user-to-user interactions via the Thrive Network and virtual webinars with external stakeholders. The Safeguarding Lead is responsible for enforcing the policies outlined in this document in the best interest of the children who use the Thrive Network.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR USERS

To foster a safe and productive environment for all the users of the Thrive Network, Work Consultancy has designed a Code of Conduct which must be followed by all registrants to the Thrive Network. In the event that the Code of Conduct is violated, appropriate actions will be taken to appropriately address each circumstance. This Code of Conduct is outlined below:

  • Users should show consideration and respect for other users;
  • Users are expected to exercise sound judgment when posting or reposting content on the Thrive Network;
  • Users should not post content that is offensive, vulgar or threatening;
  • Users should avoid behaviour that could be perceived as harassment, intimidation, discrimination, bullying or threatening in any other way; and
  • Users must conduct themselves at all times in a manner that is courteous and respects the rights of other users.

This list is not exhaustive as user conduct will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

REPORTING

All users are encouraged to report violations seen on the Thrive Network. They can do so by simply clicking the report button on posts and comments. Alternatively, they can complete a Google form by clicking the ‘Report Misconduct’ button located in the header on thrive.work-consultancy.com.

CODE OF CONDUCT VIOLATION

After Code of Conduct violations are reported, they will be assessed using our Strike System and the appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken. Based on the severity of the violation, users will be given the appropriate Strike. The Strike System is outlined below:

Strike 1 – A written warning is sent to the student user and registered parent/guardian via email.

Strike 2 – The student user is banned temporarily from commenting for up to 1 month and a written warning is sent to the student user and registered parent/guardian via email.

Strike 3 – The student user is banned temporarily from commenting for 1 month and a written warning is sent to the student user and registered parent/guardian via email.

Strike 4 – The student user is banned temporarily from commenting for 4 months and a written warning is sent to the student user and registered parent/guardian via email.

Strike 5 – The student user is reported to higher authorities, which includes the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training and may include the Barbados Police Service. This process is determined based on consultations with our partners and the appropriate parents/guardians.

Please note that any illegal activity displayed on the Thrive Network is considered a level 5 Strike.
